As a freelance author, director and producer Gerlinde Böhm makes documentary films from all over the world for 25 years.

Worldly Possessions ( Hab und Gut in aller Welt) is Gerlinde Böhm's so far most ambitious, biggest project. The documentary series was realized on behalf of ARTE (a French-German public TV station). The each 30-minutes productions, filmed in 21 different countries all over the of the world, get their fascination from the narrations by the portrayed families. The poor and the rich talk about their worries and distress, their wishes and their imagination of happiness. They also give you an intimate inside view of their daily life.

The series was broadcast in Australia, Germany, Finland, France, Greece, Poland, Sweden, Swiss and Russia and is available on DVD in German and English language.

Gerlinde Böhm is used to look behind the scenes. In her first film Señor Turista (Peru, 90 min., awarded the Development Policy Media Prize), she shows positive as well as disastrous effects of tourism on the existance of two Indian population groups at the lake Titicaca.

In Home Coming (Heimkehr, 90 min.) she accompanied the 22 year-old Vicki from Peru on her challenging return to a slum in Lima after a one-year stay in Berlin.

In Germany Gerlinde Böhm reflects social questions, too. Her film Confidence Against Violence (Vertrauen gegen Gewalt, 75 min.) is a patient study of some right wing youngsters in East Berlin. The documentary discusses radical paroles as well as social affiliations.

As producer of A Small Piece of Germany (Ein schmales Stück Deutschland, 90 min.), which has been filmed shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall in an cooperation of East-West-German filmmakers, she keeps the memory alive to the victims of the intra-German border.

The film Escape to Mexico, Germans in Exile (Flucht nach Mexiko – Deutsche im Exil, 90 min.) is dedicated to the remembrance of former German refugees in Mexico, who fled from Nazi-Germany. The film presents people with changeful lives, ways, meeting points and sites of history.

In 2000 the Gerlinde Böhm Film Production was responsible for the outstanding documentary film programm blick.berlin.dok, which was realized in a cooperation of the German Documentary Filmmakers Association with the public TV station Berlin-Brandenburg. The popular writer Roger Willemsen acted as anchorman of the enormous five-hour program Documentaries Long Night.
